Malé Friday Mosque

Malé Friday Mosque or the Malé Hukuru Miskiy ((ディベヒ語:މާލެ ހުކުރު މިސްކިތް)) is one of the most ancient and decorated mosques located in the city of Malé, Kaafu Atoll, Maldives. Coral boulders or porite corals, which are found extensively in the country, are the basic materials used for construction of this and other such mosques in the country because of its suitability. The corals are easily cut to size when soft and wet and are abundantly available, but when dried make sturdy building blocks.
This site was added to the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List under the Cultural category in 2008 for inscription under Criteria (ii) use of sea cultures for creating unique architecture, (iii) it is a historic cultural tradition with no parallel elsewhere in the world, (iv) the tongue-in-groove technique shows a highly developed building level for the period, and (vi) the buildings are associated with both religious and social practices of cultural significance.〔
==Location==
The mosque is located opposite the Medhu Ziyarat and Muleeage in Malé.
